The composition uses a hydrocarbon base oil, and the base oil contains 30 to 250ppm of superbasic magnesium salicylate in terms of magnesium content relative to the total amount of the composition, and 0.07 to 5.0 mass% of a non-dispersible polymethacrylate having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 to 200,000 in terms of a net amount relative to the total amount of the composition. The composition has an electrical conductivity of 200 pS/m or more at 25°C, a flash point of 240°C or more, a pour point of minus 40°C or less, and a friction coefficient of 0.08 or more by a microclutch at 140°C. Such a lubricating oil composition can be imparted with electrical conductivity in order to prevent generation of noise adversely affecting an electronic controller when used in a machine equipped with an electronic control device.
